Lehre
Our working group offers courses in machine learning and deep learning with applications in bioinformatics. These include both lectures and seminars. In addition, we supervise theses (bachelor's and master's theses) on current research topics and offer committed students the opportunity to get involved in our projects as student assistants (HiWi).

Depending on availability, open doctoral positions and research assistant positions will be announced here or advertised publicly. Especially for doctoral studies, but also for postdoctoral stays, there is always the possibility of working with us through individual funding as part of an externally acquired scholarship. Bachelor's and master's theses
We appreciate your interest in writing your bachelor's or master's thesis in our working group. If you would like to apply to write your thesis with us, please send us a short email with the following information to kern-office.zbh(at)uni-hamburg.de(kern-office.zbh"AT"uni-hamburg.de):
- Which degree program you are studying
- Which study semester you are in
- A current Transcript of Records
- Whether you have already been admitted to write your thesis or what requirements you still need to fulfill in order to be admitted
- Which courses you are attending this semester
- Your desired start date and duration of writing the thesis
- If desired, topic interests or specific topic requests
- Additional information that may be relevant to us (e.g., prior knowledge, special interests)
After receiving your message, we will contact you shortly to arrange an appointment and discuss possible topics and the further procedure.
