TDP-43 enhances translation of specific mRNAs linked to neurodegenerative disease

Giorgio Gonnella, Stefan Dang and Stefan Kurtz of the Genome Informatics research group of the ZBH are co-author of a new publication in Nucleic Acid Research. In this study, the effect of the RNA-binding protein TDP-43 on translation is analysed using ribosome profiling and additional assays. The protein is heavily implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Amyothrophic Lateral Sclerosis and
Frontotemporal Dementia.
